When we depart this world we usually leave a 'Last Will and Testament.' This grants to those we love and wish to honour, certain items we have owned. They
can range from money to objects we have cherished. My grandchildren will inherit my paintings.
But what if you are poor and don't posess money
or property, nothing in fact! What can you leave?
Jesus though He was immensely rich, chose poverty here on earth and literally had nowhere to lay
His head. What then could He leave us?
I woke one morning with a request to paint a crown of thorns, three nails and a notice in a landscape
drained of colour.
It was not until I had finished painting, that I asked what was to be written on the notice?
"My Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you."
John 14 verse 27
then is Jesus' bequest to us; but how to obtain this 'Peace?'
Life up to the age of 35 had not been good. I was married at eighteen
to a violently jealous man, who would have nothing to do with his infant son. For safety's sake we divorced and life was a struggle, but I have a tenacious spirit that carried me through, until
I was informed by God, that my ten month old niece and goddaughter was, "Not long for this world."
I was devastated; however, this information was accompanied by an amazing peace! She lived to be four and a half years old; years filled with pain and suffering for all concerned. During the initial
stages of her illness she was taken to heaven and on her return talked continually about, "How bright and shiny it was; it's not like it is here and Jesus is there!"
From then on Jesus was the centre of her universe. On the day she knew she was to die, she whispered to me, "I'm excited 'cause I'm going home this afternoon and I'm wondering what I'm having for my tea!"
Death is the unmentioned event we all have to face, and it is little spoken of in our society. We fear it like nothing else and yet my niece was excited to
be going home. How can this be? She knew beyond any doubt that Jesus was alive and that took the fear away.
She trusted Him, so how
"For God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son that whosoever (you and me) believes on Him shall
not perish but have eternal life."
Eternal life is not a fairy tale made up to keep us from fear; it is eternal truth that saves us from an eternal destruction!
what I did in my desperation; ask Jesus to forgive and save you; invite Him into your life and understand for the first time,
