Made in the Image

Genesis 1 verses 26,27 tell us that God made us in His image according to His likeness!

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness....." Please note the 'Us' and 'Our' in this statement. We have here the Trinity. God spoke, Jesus created them by the power of the Holy Spirit! So God created man in His own image; ..male and female He created them".

Another creation verse in the New Testament is found in the first three verses of John Chapter 1:  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made."

Believe it or not, you look like God.   How amazing is that!

Some of us might think that God didn't do such a good job, but God doesn't make mistakes.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made, you are a work in progress, you are unique!

If you don't believe me look up Psalm 139 where it says of God, 'You have knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise You,for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.' verse 13,14.

So are you just a body? No, you are much more than your physical body; you have a soul and a spirit as well. Your soul is your character and personality, what makes you, you.  Your spirit is what makes you alive, without that you would be just a clay model; remember God breathed into Adam and he became alive. Genesis 2:7

As an artist it never ceases to amaze me that we all have two eyes, a nose and mouth and yet we all look different; even identical twins have their differences. When creating a portrait I use the mathematical facial proportions and there I discover another law of creation, God is a consummate mathematician!

So, when you next look into the mirror, remember that.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us,...."

John 1:14.
